Back in the winter, when we spent a lot of time cooped up, I had an idea that grew, and grew, and grew. I wanted to open an Etsy shop, selling tote bags that sent messages that reflected what my friends and I were facing day to day: adoption questions and special needs parenting. I also wanted to create a few bags specifically for girls and women of color, bags that my own daughters would be proud to carry.
I filled a notebook with ideas, had some meetings, did some research...and then this happened:
Choose Kindness: a bag inspired by my friends who are parenting kids with special needs.
Full Hands/Full Heart: a bag for all the mamas out there who hear from strangers, "You've got your hands full!"
Love Makes a Family: ya'll know this was the first bag I designed. For mamas and grandmas and aunties and anyone whose family was built by adoption!
Melanin Queen: This bag was created for my daughters---to celebrate their beautiful skin and their Blackness.
Rosa is My Shero: Not-so-secretly my favorite tote bag. Written in kid-script, celebrating one of my girls' sheroes: Rosa Parks!
